Bibby Distribution’s Food Expertise Eats Up The Competition To Secure New Contract With AAK.

Bibby Distribution’s experience in food traceability and its extensive safety credentials have won the company a three-year contract with edible oils and fats manufacturer AAK.

The 3PL can track the journey of every pallet it carries in real-time, giving AAK a full traceability record of products going into high street food chains such as Nando’s.

As a result, Bibby Distribution will now handle all outbound distribution requirements from AAK’s Hull factory, delivering more than 1,000 pallets a week to food wholesalers and retailers across the UK and Ireland every year.

Bibby Distribution won the competitive tender based on its proven commitment to health and safety, which includes holding a RoSPA Gold award in Fleet Safety across all its sites.

Martin Smith, Transport Manager at AAK, says:

“When we’re sending out products, our customers need to know that they’re going to arrive precisely on time and in the same condition as when they left the factory. Bibby Distribution is already well established in the food sector, so we knew we could trust them.”

As part of the contract, Bibby Distribution has introduced a new electronic system that allows AAK to share order and invoice information with customers online, speeding up the purchasing process.

A dedicated Bibby Distribution operations manager will also be based on-site at AAK’s factory. As a direct point of contact, they will monitor daily delivery movements and proactively look at ways to help reduce costs for the oil manufacturer.

Smith adds: “ The new technology Bibby Distribution has brought in means we can share information much more quickly with customers. That frees up our time, and allows us to focus on improving and scaling the business.”

AAK is an international manufacturer of high value-added speciality vegetable fats, used by the bakery, chocolate, confectionary, cosmetics and food industries. It also produces vegetable lubricants for machinery and ingredients in animal feeds.
